Bachelor of Arts (BA) in India

Study in India Scholarship

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) is an undergraduate degree offered by universities and colleges of India. B.A. degrees are mainly awarded to students following a program in the Liberal Arts (e.g. Humanities, Social Sciences). Traditional universities such as Cambridge and Oxford award the Bachelor of Arts degree to all their subjects, including the scientific ones. The study duration of a B.A. degree is three to four years. While the Bachelor of Science focuses on research and mathematical skills, the B.A. degree develops students’ abilities to communicate clearly and critically analyze ideas, theories, and concepts. Students learn how to reach their conclusions and express them logically. During the final year, you have to write a thesis to graduate.

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) is mainly awarded to students in the areas of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, Linguistics, Cultural Sciences, but also, in some cases, Informatics and Business Sciences can be awarded a Bachelor of Arts instead of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). Some of the other common majors available through BA programs are psychology, sociology, communications, education, journalism, philosophy, religion, and anthropology.  India has some of the best universities and institutions offering Bachelors in Arts programs to international students. All the institutions are accredited and have an authentic ranking in the National Institute of Ranking Frame.

Benefits of Studying Bachelor of Arts in India

In India, international students who aspire to study bachelors of arts, get an option to choose between a major and minor in English, French, any other linguistics course such as Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, History, Religious Studies, and many more subject areas. The course covers all the related topics for the field and gives rigorous training to the students. The Indian universities take the students through a well-defined study program for their all-around development. It is generally considered the easiest stream according to the larger populace and generally looked down upon as compared to Science and Engineering Streams.

Cultural & Political Insights

Bachelors of Arts can be pursued in various disciplines as explained above. Also, subjects in arts and humanities will give insights to the students about the culture of the country and the kind of attitude the people carry. Arts has numerous subjects like literature, history, and political science. After deciding to study B.A. at the pass or honors level, international students can select from a big variety of study areas from the different options available before them. About the earlier educational qualification of the candidate and the individual preference and skills of the student en route for a particular course of study, there is a suitable curriculum for nearly every student choosing this course.

Variety of Career Options

BA degrees are designed to prepare you with critical thinking skills, communication skills, and a foundation in the humanities – such as literature, history, language, and religion. While a Bachelor of Arts degree is one of the most common undergraduate degrees in the country, students who are determined to enter a specific career field can pursue many other kinds of undergraduate programs to prepare for graduate school or a career.

Multidimensional Career Growth

The reason behind this is that a person who graduates in Arts holds a degree in a general non-scientific subject area. But Arts Degree's worth can be gauged from the fact that it offers more avenues of employment opportunities than any other stream. This is primarily because students seeking Engineering and Science are limited to their respective fields whereas students pursuing Arts are not limited to their specific fields, their scope of specialization is vast. Concerning the previous academic background and the personal choice and ability of the student towards a specific program, there exists an appropriate program for almost every candidate opting for this degree.
